Greetings, and thank you for looking.....
This Edwin Hall & Company Spaceship kiddie ride was built in London, England.  The first version of this Edwin Hall Dan Dare Spaceship was reportedly released for sale in January of 1954. This Spaceship was the fourth coin operated ride produced by Edwin Hall & Company and it turned out to be one of the most popular rides that Edwin Hall ever produced. The Dan Dare spaceship stayed in production until the late 1960’s, for a known span of at least twelve years. Numerous versions of the Spaceship were built during its time of production, with small variations made along the way, mainly to its paint design and the attached trim pieces. Surprisingly,  even customer’s customized order requests for this Spaceship were also supposedly accommodated. Each Dan Dare Spaceship was hand assembled at the Edwin Hall facility in London, England.
This Edwin Hall & Company Dan Dare Spaceship ride is the only original, in working condition, survivor of its kind, believed to currently exist in the United States.
The original Dan Dare Spaceship was also known as the Spaceship MK, with various roman numeric sequenced versions reportedly built. This Spaceship ride was the first British made kiddie ride to incorporate lights with it's superb styling, futuristic design and hand crafted all wood construction.
To share some of the history of this ride, included with the purchase of your Dan Dare Spaceship, will be your very own copy of the Dan Dare biography so you can impress all of your Spaceship friends with the history of Britain’s favorite space hero.  Dan Dare, who originally came to life in a comic strip, beginning in April, 1950, and still continues to be popular in British comic books to this day.  It was supposedly Dan Dare’s rise in fame and popularity as a comic book space hero that later caught Edwin Hall’s attention and inspired and led Edwin Hall to create this iconic Spaceship Ride in his namesake.  In tribute to Dan Dare, the legendary comic book space hero.  (See attached image of the book)
Continuing with more on the history of this iconic Spaceship Ride...  it is widely believed among Rocket/Spaceship enthusiasts and coin op ride collectors, that the Dan Dare Spaceship, produced by Edwin Hall & Company was a direct result of the on-going friendly competition that existed between the leading manufacturers of coin operated kiddie rides, in England versus their contemporary counterparts here in the United States, in what was becoming a very rapidly growing industry in both countries, during the early 1950’s.  Edwin Hall & Company and Robinson Partners, the two largest kiddie ride manufacturers in the UK during the 1950’s, apparently kept a very watchful eye on their peers, here in the US, with manufacturers such as Exhibit Supply Company and Bally Manufacturing Company , who were also the industry leaders, at that same time, here in the larger US kiddie ride market.  These rival companies from their respective countries seemed to frequently mimic each other, in a copycat world, with the production of some of their most popular coin op rides.
This became quite evident when Exhibit Supply teamed up in 1954, with the then highly popular ABC, Space Patrol TV show featuring the Commander “Buzz” Corry character and produced the rocket kiddie ride known as the Space Patrol Scout Ship. One of the main sponsors of the Space Patrol TV Show was Ralston Purina. Ralston Purina at that time was an industry leader in pet food product sales and they created a special, very limited production version of the Exhibit Space Patrol Scout Ship kiddie ride, that featured their infamous red and white checkered logo color theme covering the rear tail section of the rocket kiddie ride. This Ralston Purina version of the Exhibit Space Patrol Scout Ship then became promoted along with their product sales and in conjunction with the popular Space Patrol television show and its star characters.
Then, with Exhibit Supply’s introduction of their Space Patrol Scout Ship kiddie ride and it's direct affiliation with the then popular US Space Patrol TV show.... it appeared to be, more than just coincidental, that in the UK, Edwin Hall & Company released, in that same exact time period, early in 1954, the debut of this Dan Dare Spaceship kiddie ride and its direct affiliation and being named after the then most popular British comic book space hero, Dan Dare. Thus, this Edwin Hall & Company Dan Dare Spaceship and the Exhibit Supply Space Patrol Scout Ship will forever be linked together in kiddie ride history along with their very popular, respective 1950’s space heroes.
That's all, for the history lesson....
