Vintage Small Square Akro Agate Ashtray, in Blue

Description

Best known for its marbles, Akro Agate produced this small square glass ashtray in a light blue color.
Founded in 1910, the company made a special type of glass that consists of combining colors together to produce a "marbelized" product called marbles.  In addition to marbles, the company made ashtrays, lamps, candlesticks, knives, vases for the florist trade, lithographic balls, jars for cosmetic companies, chidren's dishes and miscellaneous glass novelties primarily in opaque and striated marbelized opaque colors like the marbles. The company closed in 1941
This little ashtray measures 2-7/8" square.  Circa 1930. Marked Made In USA, with the Akro Crow mark. In excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks noted.
